How to Enable Location Services and Give Your Browser Access to GPS Information?

On Android Devices

Automatic Prompt

  1. Open the Browser:

    • Open the browser app you want to give GPS permission to (e.g., Chrome, Firefox).

  2. Visit a Website:

    • Go to a website that requires your location (e.g., Google Maps).

  3. Allow Location Access:

    • When prompted, select “Allow.”

Manual Settings

  1. Open Settings:
    • Tap the “Settings” icon on your home screen.
 

  1. Apps & Notifications:

    • Select “Apps & notifications” or “Applications.”

  2. Select the Browser:

    • Scroll and tap the browser app (e.g., Chrome, Firefox).

  3. Permissions:

    • Tap on “Permissions.”

  4. Location Permission:

    • Toggle the “Location” permission to “On.”

  5. Enable GPS:

    • Go to “Settings” > “Location” and toggle it on.

On Apple Devices

Automatic Prompt

  1. Open the Browser:

    • Open Safari or the browser app you are using.

  2. Visit a Website:

    • Go to a website that requires your location (e.g., Google Maps).

  3. Allow Location Access:

    • When prompted, select “Allow While Using App.”

Manual Settings

  1. Open Settings:
    • Tap the “Settings” icon on your home screen.
 

  1. Scroll to Find the Browser:

    • Scroll down and find the browser app (e.g., Safari, Chrome).

  2. Location Services:

    • Tap on the browser app.

  3. Allow Location Access:

    • Select “While Using the App” or “Always.”

  4. Enable Location Services:

    • Go to “Settings” > “Privacy” > “Location Services” and toggle it on.

On Desktop Computers

Using Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome:

    • Open the Google Chrome browser.

  2. Settings:

    • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Settings.”

  3. Privacy and Security:

    • Click on “Privacy and security” in the left sidebar.

  4. Site Settings:

    • Click on “Site Settings.”

  5. Location:

    • Click on “Location” and make sure “Ask before accessing” is enabled.

  6. Allow Location Access:

    • When prompted by a website, select “Allow.”

Using Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge:

    • Open the Microsoft Edge browser.

  2. Settings:

    • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Settings.”

  3. Site Permissions:

    • Click on “Site permissions” in the left sidebar.

  4. Location:

    • Click on “Location” and make sure “Ask before accessing” is enabled.

  5. Allow Location Access:

    • When prompted by a website, select “Allow.”

On Mac Computers

Using Safari

  1. Open Safari:

    • Open the Safari browser.

  2. Preferences:

    • Click “Safari” in the top menu and select “Preferences.”

  3. Websites:

    • Click on the “Websites” tab.

  4. Location:

    • In the left sidebar, click “Location.”

  5. Allow Location Access:

    • Set the permission for the website to “Ask” or “Allow.”
